Fire crews tackle Alum Rock 'deliberate' fire

A shop has been badly damaged in what West Midlands Fire and Rescue said was a deliberate fire.

The shop, in a row of five on Alum Rock Road, Birmingham, was set alight during Saturday evening.

Up to 40 firefighters were called to the scene as flames went through the roof of the building.

Alum Rock Road and Parkfield Road was closed off and fire crews remained at the scene overnight dampening down. Investigations were being carried out.
