Cyclist in fatal collision in Essington named

A cyclist killed in an accident in Wolverhampton on Wednesday has been named by police as Sarah Smith.

The 45-year-old, from Church Crescent in Essington, died in the collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter van on Blackhalve Lane, Essington.

Staffordshire Police said a 40-year-old man from Walsall had been arrested at the scene.

The force is still investigating the crash, which happened at 07:15 GMT. Police are appealing for witnesses.
