Further tests are being carried out after a woman's body was discovered at a flat in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Police sealed off the flat in Leacroft Road in Meir at about 17:00 GMT on Tuesday after a visitor to the flat found the woman's body.

Police believe the woman is 18-year-old Victoria Heaton. Paramedics confirmed she died at the scene.

Insp Chris Harrington said a post-mortem examination had not identified the cause of death.

He said: "The results still describe the death of the woman found at the address as unexplained and further tests are being conducted.

"We understand the community's thirst for information about this incident, however in cases like this it is vital that we take the time to establish the facts.

"We are continuing to support the family and the community; anyone with any concerns can speak to their local officer."

A force spokesman said the body had not yet been formally identified. Detectives are treating the death as unexplained.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to contact the force.
