Centre to treat festive revellers set up in Birmingham

A temporary treatment unit has been set up in Birmingham city centre in the run up to Christmas and New Year's Eve.

West Midlands Ambulance Service is running the centre on Broad Street to look after people out for the festive party season.

The service said the minor injury unit could provide treatment for the "walking wounded" and people who had too much to drink.

It will be open for four nights over the Christmas and new year period.

The centre, based at the House of Sport, is staffed by paramedics, technicians, medics and community first responders.

It will be open on 16 December, 17 December, 23 December and 31 December between 20:00 and 04:00 GMT.
