Man discovered in Birmingham bus stop dies

A 58-year-old man has died after being found injured in a Birmingham bus stop.

The death of the man, who was discovered near City Hospital just after midnight, is being treated as suspicious.

He was found near the junction of Barford Road and Dudley Road and taken to hospital but died a short while later, early on Friday morning.

Police said the man was well known locally and they were waiting to confirm the nature of his injuries.

A forensic post-mortem examination was due to take place on Friday afternoon.

The West Midlands force said a major investigation had been launched and detectives were keen to piece together the man's last movements.

Det Supt Richard Baker, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have forensic experts at the scene, are trawling local CCTV and are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and seen something to come forward."
