A man who died in a crash in West Bromwich has been named by police.

Brian Haynes, 71, died on Thursday when his blue Ford Mondeo left the road and turned onto its side.

Emergency services were called to Holloway Bank, Hill Top, at about 02:20 GMT, but Mr Haynes was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Midlands Police have appealed for anyone with information on his whereabouts in the hours leading up to the crash.

Sgt David Lawrence said: "From our reconstruction of the collision site, we have a good understanding of what happened on the road, but what we remain uncertain of is where Mr Haynes had spent the evening.

"I would urge anyone who saw him at any point on Thursday 2 February, but particularly in the evening, to contact us."
