Warning over West Midlands freezing weather in place
Residents in the West Midlands were warned to "be aware" of snow and ice as the Met Office predicted temperatures would struggle to get above freezing.
A widespread frost in some areas was expected on Friday night along with a risk of icy patches, particularly where snow cover remains.
The ambulance service urged the public "to be mindful of the conditions" if venturing out by car or on foot.
Pedestrians especially "should wear appropriate footwear", it said.
Deansfield Community School in Wolverhampton remained closed to pupils until after half term, 20 February, following a heating mains failure.
