Redditch car crash kills pedestrian

A female pedestrian has died after being hit by a car near Redditch in Worcestershire.

She was struck by a black Ford Focus on the A435 near the Branson's Cross pub on Monday afternoon.

The pedestrian, who was in her 60s, suffered leg injuries and was airlifted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but died later that evening.

The car driver, a woman in her 30s, was unhurt. West Mercia Police appealed for witnesses to contact them.

The A435 was closed from the M42 junction to the Branson's Cross area until about 19:30 BST.
