Hodge Hill flats fire: Seven rescued

Seven people, including a three-year-old, have been rescued from a fire at a block of flats in Birmingham in the early hours.

Four crews tackled the blaze on Stechford Road, in the Hodge Hill area, shortly after 03:45 BST.

It is believed it broke out in the lobby on the first floor of the three-storey building, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Two men and a woman were taken to hospital for further treatment.

One of the men, in his 20s was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital suffering from burns to his hand, arm and chest.

West Midlands Fire Service said officers were investigating the cause of the fire.
