Train services through Birmingham and Worcestershire have been cancelled and delayed by signal problems.
Chiltern Railways and London Midland services were affected by the issue, which began at 07:15 GMT.
Trains between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stourbridge junction were cancelled and there were 20 minute delays between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon.
Network Rail said the problem was fixed about 14:30 GMT but there could still be some delays on later services.
The problems were caused by a defective cable near Old Hill which had now been repaired by engineers, the company said,
