Handsworth pedestrian dies after being hit by a car

A man has died after he was hit by a car in Handsworth, Birmingham.

Emergency services were called to Trinity Road, near Birchfield Road, at about 23:00 BST on Monday.

A blue Nissan Micra had hit a pedestrian who later died from his injuries. He is believed to be a 63-year-old man from Handsworth but is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the Micra suffered minor cuts as a result of glass flying from his broken windscreen.

Insp Mark Watkins, from West Midlands Police, said witnesses were being sought from the "busy location".

"I'm keen to hear from any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have seen the vehicle or a man in his 60s walking near to the scene beforehand," he added.
