Birmingham Royal Ballet's lead ballerina retires at 41

The Birmingham Royal Ballet's principal dancer has announced she is retiring at the age of 41.

Ambra Vallo, who came to Birmingham 17 years ago, said she wanted to retire while she was still at the top of her game.

David Bintley, the ballet company's director, said there was "no replacement" for her.
