Gravelly Hill crash: Man charged over woman's death

A man charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman car passenger died in a crash in Birmingham has been remanded in custody.

The 18-year-old suffered fatal injuries in the collision with a van on Gravelly Hill near to the A38(M) early on Tuesday morning.

Three others were injured in the crash and one man remains in a critical condition. The van driver was unhurt.

Abdimajid Adan, 19, who was uninjured, appeared at Birmingham magistrates.

Mr Adan, of Blakesley Road, Birmingham, was also charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without a licence or insurance.

He is due at Birmingham Crown Court at a later date.

The victim, who died in hospital, is yet to be formally identified.

West Midlands Police is appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision between the Fiat Brava and the van to come forward.
