West Midlands Police officers hurt in Walsall car crash

Two police officers have been taken to hospital after their car crashed into a fence on the way to a call-out in Walsall.

Insp Richard Thomas, from West Midlands Police, said it happened at 03:54 BST on Pelsall Road in Brownhills.

Mr Thomas said the crash had caused extensive damage to the car and the officers had suffered serious but "non-life threatening injuries".

No other vehicles were involved and police have appealed for witnesses.

The road was closed while the car was recovered but has since reopened.
