The last day of The Public art gallery in West Bromwich

A £72m art gallery in West Bromwich is to close, just five years after it opened.

Sandwell Borough Council has said it can no longer afford to subsidise The Public, which will be converted into a sixth form college.

Lindsay Doyle spoke to Linda Saunders, the managing director, Will Alsop, architect and Labour councillor Darren Cooper.
