Birmingham surgeon charged over patient sex assault
A surgeon has been charged with sexually assaulting a female patient at a private hospital in Birmingham.
Mr Nafees Hamid, 50, from Moseley, is accused of assaulting the woman during an examination at the Priory Hospital, Edgbaston, in June.
The neurosurgeon is employed by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
A trust spokesman said Mr Hamid had been excluded from his practice, pending the outcome of the inquiry.
He added that an internal investigation had been launched into the allegation.
Mr Hamid has been bailed to appear before magistrates in Birmingham on 3 December.
