A fire at a clothing bank building was tackled by 25 firefighters, a spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said.

The fire broke out in the building at the rear of the Cross Guns Pub on Barn Lane, Handsworth, shortly after 6:00 GMT.

No-one has been injured by the fire, a spokesman for the service said.

He added that the fire had been "safely contained" but crews would remain at the scene for several more hours.

The fire had been extinguished by 10:00, the spokesman confirmed.

The road is currently closed to traffic and delays are expected in the area.
