Tribute to student killed on M6 near junction 10 at Walsall

A teenage university student killed in a crash involving a lorry and car has been described as "caring" and "thoughtful" by his family.

Ben Elliman, 19, from Swindon, Wiltshire, was behind the wheel of a Ford Focus which crashed on the M6.

It happened near junction 10 at Walsall and left the southbound carriageway between nine and 10a closed for almost five hours.

The 54-year-old lorry driver suffered minor injuries.

The family statement said: "Ben [a Keele University student] was a dearly loved son and brother who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

"He was a caring, thoughtful person and we ask you to respect our privacy at this difficult time."
