A burst water main has damaged one of the major routes through Worcester.

The carriageway at the junction of Hylton Road and Henwick Road, near the University of Worcester, has been damaged in two places.

The A443 Worcester to Tenbury Wells road was closed between Henwick Road and Tybridge Street, Worcestershire County Council said.

Severn Trent Water said engineers are currently assessing how long it will take to repair the pipe.

The road was closed earlier but has now re-opened. Three-way traffic lights have been installed while the road is being dug up.

The company has apologised to commuters for delays caused while the repair work is carried out.
