Shirley crash victim named by police as Stephen Beckett

A man who died in a car crash in Shirley has been named by West Midlands Police as Stephen Beckett.

The 59-year-old grandfather was driving a Vauxhall which was in collision with a Range Rover in Bills Lane, at the junction of Langcomb Road on 17 August.

His nine-year-old grandson, who was also in the car, remains in a serious condition in hospital, the force said.

The 19-year-old driver of the Range Rover was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
