A 13-month road closure resulting in four-mile diversions for motorists has been put in place.

Bentley Mill Way in Darlaston will be closed until February 2016 while work to widen the road and install new traffic lights takes place.

Part of the link road, which runs under a 200-year-old bridge, will be lowered to allow tall vehicles to pass through.

Walsall Borough Council said it was part of a £26m improvement scheme to improve access for businesses.

Deputy leader Mohammad Nazir said the work was necessary due to increased traffic along the road, which connects Pleck and Darlaston.
