A theatre group has appealed for the return of military uniforms and a stuffed pigeon after its touring van was stolen.

The items were being stored alongside sets and other props in the Big Brum Theatre Education group's vehicle.

It said it has had to postpone upcoming World War One school performances after the vehicle was taken from Park Road, Balsall Heath, at the weekend.

West Midlands Police said it was checking CCTV in a bid to find the van.

Matt Hinks, education worker at the group, said the silver Mercedes Sprinter van had contained sets and costumes for performances of Edward Bond's play The Angry Roads.

"We don't put anything on the side of the van advertising the fact we're a theatre company," he said.

West Midlands Police said a Mercedes sprinter van was stolen from Park Road sometime between 17:00 BST on Saturday and 07:30 GMT on Monday.
