A man who died after falling onto rail tracks and being hit by a train had tried to climb a bridge wall, an inquest was told.

Jeevan Singh Dhanda, 18, of Walsall, fell onto tracks at Birmingham's New Street Station and died on 13 August, six days after the incident.

Police told the inquest it was their hypothesis he thought he could find a way back into a nightclub.

Birmingham coroner Louise Hunt recorded a verdict of accidental death.

An inquest into the death of Hitesh Dhirajlal, 31, from West Bromwich, who also died after being found injured on tracks at the station, will be held in January.

Mr Dhanda was at Snobs nightclub and was asked to leave because he was being sick, Birmingham Coroner's Court was told on Wednesday.

The inquest heard he fell from a bridge in Suffolk Street onto a ledge and then onto the tracks before being hit by a train three hours later.
