A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a lorry went the wrong way down a dual carriageway.

Police "moved quickly" to block the road and stop the HGV as it travelled on the Black Country Route near Willenhall at about 02:20 GMT.

Officers detained the driver, who "appeared drunk" on suspicion of drink driving, a spokesman for West Midlands Police said.

The man was taken into custody for a breath test to be carried out.

Insp Greg Jennings, from West Midlands Police Traffic Unit, said: "The circumstances of this particular incident could have been extremely serious had it been a busier time of day or if other vehicles had been innocently travelling along the dual carriageway."
