Arsonists blamed for North Birmingham Academy fire

Firefighters have been tackling a "severe" fire at a Birmingham school.

Two shipping containers outside the school were set on fire leading to the loss of large amounts of equipment, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Crews were called to North Birmingham Academy on College Road in Erdington at about 04:15 GMT and it was dealt with by about 06:00.

The fire at the school, which closed on Friday for Christmas, is being treated as suspicious.
