Birmingham pupil sexually assaulted on way to school
A 13-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted on her way to school in Birmingham.
A man approached the girl in Pope's Lane, Kings Norton on Friday morning and carried her into nearby woodland.
Police said she managed to fight off the man, who ran away as she raised the alarm.
Officers said the man was described as white, in his early 20s and with a distinctive lump on his nose, which had probably been broken at some point.
The man is believed to have followed the girl as she got off a bus in the area, West Midlands Police said.
Popes Lane was cordoned off while the scene was searched by specialist dog units. Officers said they were also examining CCTV footage.
Sgt Guy Stephenson said it was currently being treated as an isolated incident, but urged pupils and parents to watch out for suspicious behaviour.
