Man in hospital after four-car crash in Birmingham

A man is in hospital with serious injuries following a four-car crash in Birmingham city centre.

The crash happened at 03:20 GMT on Bristol Street at the junction of Essex Street, police said.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The driver, a man in his 30s, was trapped and unconscious in the car. He had a serious head injury."

The man was cut free and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Police said drivers should avoid the area.

The Holloway Circus underpass remains closed, with traffic being diverted around the roundabout.
