Alum Rock slavery prosecution dropped by prosecutors

The case against a mother and son accused of holding four men as slaves has been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Vasilica Panaghita, 54, of Alum Rock Road, and Cristian Panaghita, 31, of Cotterills Lane, both in Birmingham, both denied holding a person in slavery or servitude.

The pair also denied requiring someone to perform forced or compulsory labour.

Prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to continue with the case.
