A man has been jailed for 17 years for a series of historic sex attacks against three girls.

Gary Jukes, of Highters Road, Warstock, Birmingham, admitted charges including rape, sex with a girl under the age of 13, and indecent and sexual assaults.

Police said he was prosecuted after his victims, now in their 30s and 50s, "found the courage to report him".

Jukes, 52, was placed on the sex offenders register for life at Birmingham Crown Court.

West Midlands Police said the offences took place over a period of 21 years between 1976 and 1997.

Det Con Nichola Thomas said: "The trial of Gary Jukes was a traumatic experience for his victims and I would like to praise their courage in coming forward and speaking to police."
