Man charged over hit-and-run outside The Hawthorns

A man has been charged over an alleged hit-and-run near a football ground that left a woman with multiple fractures.

The 20-year-old was hit by a car outside West Bromwich Albion's Hawthorns ground, on Birmingham Road, at about 15:00 GMT on Friday.

Tomasz Kolakowski, 22, from Aston, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He was remanded in custody at Sandwell Magistrates' Court on Monday morning.

Mr Kolakowski is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 8 June.

He also faces a charge of driving without insurance or a valid licence.

The woman has been in hospital with a broken leg, a broken arm, pelvic injuries and other cuts and bruising.
