A man who was found fatally stabbed in Wolverhampton has been named by police.

Officers launched a murder investigation after the body of 47-year-old Herman Simpson, known as Louis, was found in a bedsit on Compton Road, just after 20:30 BST on Monday.

A post-mortem examination found he died from a stab wound to his back.

A woman and two men, arrested on Tuesday, have been released without charge and no further action will be taken against them, police said.

Det Insp Warren Hines said the three were now being "treated as witnesses".

"Our thoughts are with Mr Simpson's family and friends at this difficult time and our investigation into his murder continues," he added.
