Second arrest over Northfield teenager fatal stabbing

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was stabbed to death in the street.

Sheriff Mbye, 18, died in hospital from multiple knife wounds sustained in a "scuffle" in Birmingham on Friday evening, police said.

It happened on Bristol Road South in the Northfield area of the city at about 17:00 BST.

A 19-year-old man who was also stabbed in the incident remains in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital.

An 18-year-old man was arrested shortly after the fight and the second man was arrested on Sunday morning.

Det Insp Harry Harrison, from West Midlands Police, said the investigation was "moving swiftly" and appealed for witnesses to contact him.

"In particular I would like to speak to a young woman who was nearby pushing a pram as the incident happened and was clearly distressed by what she saw.

"I would like to reassure the community that we are building a very clear picture of what happened on Friday evening and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Sheriff Mybe's murder," he said.
