An inquest has opened into the death of a man whose body was found in a Birmingham skip.

Thomas O'Brien, 41, was born in Ireland but was living with his partner in Erdington, the inquest revealed.

His body was found at a recycling plant on Armoury Road, Sparkhill, on 29 April.

The cause of his death was not yet known but police said there were no suspicious circumstances. The hearing is due to reopen in September.

The BBC was told workers originally thought his body was a tailor's dummy, but then saw tattoos on the arms and called police.

Mr O'Brien may have been dead for several days "at least", West Midlands Police said.
