Road closures warning ahead of Birmingham 10km race

Motorists are being warned of road closures in Birmingham as the city plays host to thousands of runners taking part in a charity event.

The 10km (6.2m) Great Birmingham Run is held annually and will see runners take to the streets on Sunday morning.

The closures start in stages from midnight on Saturday and affect main routes through Digbeth, Edgbaston, Lee Bank Middleway and Broad Street.

Plans for a marathon in the city next year were announced on Thursday.

The city already stages a half marathon every October.
