The step-brother of pop star Jamelia has been charged with murder following a double shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured.

Tafarwa Beckford, 33, is accused of killing Derek Junior Myers, who suffered a fatal gunshot wound in Soho Hill, Birmingham, last October.

Mr Myers, 25, was pronounced dead in hospital on October 30.

Mr Beckford, of Duchess Road, Ladywood, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Another man, Rio Sanchez-Williams, has been charged with the attempted murder of a 29-year-old man, who remains critically ill in hospital, on the same day.

He was remanded in custody by magistrates on Friday.

Det Supt Mark Payne said several people remain on bail in connection with the attack as officers "sift through information to identify those who were involved".
