A 75-year-old woman and her 50-year-old daughter were rescued from a house in Wolverhampton after a suspected arson attack left them trapped in a bedroom.

West Midlands Fire Service said they were called to the property on Riches Street just before 03:00 BST.

A spokesman said it was believed an accelerant was poured through the letterbox. Both women were taken to hospital for "precautionary" checks.
