Five arrested after elderly taxi passenger 'hit by stone'

Five teenagers have been arrested after an elderly woman was hit in the head and injured by a stone thrown through a taxi window.

The woman, in her 70s, suffered a fractured skull when the stone smashed through the glass and hit her.

She was in the back seat of the vehicle as it drove along Bellevue Avenue, Edgbaston, Birmingham, on the evening of 25 May.

Two boys aged 17 and three aged 15 have been held on suspicion of wounding.

All have been bailed while police inquiries continue.
