Kenichi Phillips: Third person charged with murdering Birmingham teenager

A third person has been charged with murdering a teenager in a drive-by shooting in Birmingham.

Kenichi Phillips, 18, was shot dead as he sat in a car in St Marks Crescent, Ladywood, on 17 March.

Deandre Bailey, 24, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody by Birmingham magistrates to appear at the city's crown court on 10 August.

Dean Silvera, 37, from Dial Close, Druids Heath, and a 17-year-old youth, have also been charged with murder.

Mr Bailey was arrested in the Ladywood area on Saturday. He has also been charged with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Attempted wounding with intent
  • Two charges of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life

West Midlands Police are still appealing for help in finding 36-year-old Isaiah Wright-Young, who detectives consider is a "key suspect" in the case.

The public have been urged not to approach Mr Wright-Young, who is of no-fixed abode but from the Birmingham area, but to call 999 immediately.

Det Insp Jim Munro said: "Three people have now been charged in relation to the shooting of Kenichi Phillips on 17 March but this investigation is still very active.

"It's important we locate Isaiah Wright-Young as soon as possible and I would urge anyone with any information about his whereabouts to contact us."
