Homes evacuated over factory fire in Netherton

Residents were evacuated as up to 30 firefighters tackled a "serious" factory fire in the Black Country.

Crews were sent to Halesowen Road in Netherton, Dudley, at about 22:00 BST on Wednesday as some people were asked to leave their homes.

Firefighters managed to stop the fire spreading to neighbouring buildings, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Halesowen Road was closed until about 06:30 BST on Thursday.

The blaze was brought under control at about at about 01:15 BST, the spokesman said.

Three-quarters of the building was damaged by fire and part of the roof collapsed. The cause is being investigated.
