Man dies two days after Newtown stabbing attack

A man has died two days after being stabbed in the street in Birmingham.

A murder investigation has been launched after the attack in Summer Lane in Newtown at 20:00 BST on Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where his condition deteriorated and he died.

No arrests have been made and police are working to contact the man's family, Det Inps Paul Joyce, of West Midlands Police, said.

He appealed for the attacker to come forward.

"We have several lines of enquiry and it is only a matter of time before we come knocking at your door," he added.
