A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man who was stabbed in the street in Birmingham.

The 26-year-old victim died in hospital on Thursday two days after he was attacked in Summer Lane, Newtown.

A 19-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested in Leicestershire and is being questioned by police.

A second man, also aged 19 and from Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said a post mortem examination had revealed the victim, who has not yet been formally identified, died as a result of a stab wound.

"We would encourage anyone with information to get in contact with us."
