Man seriously hurt and left in Walsall 'hit-and-run'

An elderly man, thought to have been the victim of a hit-and-run incident, is in hospital with "severe injuries".

The incident happened at 11:00 BST on Lichfield Road, Walsall as the man, in his 80s, was crossing the road.

Police are trying to trace a light-coloured convertible Mercedes with a registration number of MJ52 0VM they think was involved in the collision.

The car would have suffered "extensive windscreen damage," a spokesman said.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man suffered "very serious injuries to his head, chest and left ankle."
