A car fire near an open gas main in Solihull on Tuesday was probably started deliberately, West Midlands Fire Service has said.

Firefighters were called to Cornfield Croft, Chelmsley Wood, at 22:37 GMT, close to a spot where a gas pipe was being dug up by workers.

The service said eight firefighters tackled the blaze as flames "completely engulfed" the car.

There were no injuries. Police said they were "aware" of the blaze.
