Woman fights off attacker at bus stop in Wolverhampton

A 19-year-old woman has escaped from a man who attacked her as she waited for a bus in Wolverhampton.

The woman was waiting at a stop in Bilston Road near the Priestfield tram stop at about 0015 BST on Sunday.

She was approached by a man described by police as black, in his late 20s and having skin with acne scarring.

The woman managed to get away and the man drove off in what was believed to be a small silver or light blue car. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Det Insp Jenny Bean said: "This was a frightening attack on a young woman who was trying to make her way home.

"We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you recognise this description.

"If you were in the area at the time and saw this man, or saw this small blue or silver car, or indeed saw anything suspicious, we urge you to come forward."
