Men remanded over Smethwick attempted armed jewel raid

Two men have been remanded in custody in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a jewellery store in Smethwick, West Midlands.

Jai Jewellery in Cape Hill was held up on Wednesday afternoon. A man was hit over the head and required treatment.

The accused men, both aged 26 and from Handsworth, Birmingham, have been charged with attempted robbery and possession of firearms.

They are due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 4 February 2011.

One of the men has also been charged with attempted robbery and possession of a firearm in connection with an earlier raid at Dulhan Jewellers in Walsall on 13 October.
