Man dies after New Year's Day assault in Wolverhampton

A man is being questioned on suspicion of murder after a man died following an assault in Wolverhampton.

Craig David Glaze, 25, was taken to hospital on Saturday after it was believed he suffered a head injury at a house in Cromwell Road, Bushbury.

West Midlands Police said it begun a murder investigation following his death on Sunday.

Detectives have been granted more time by magistrates to question a 24-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday.

Det Insp Darren Crutchley, of West Midlands Police, said: "We are in the early days of this inquiry, and are keen to hear from anyone who was around Cromwell Road on Saturday lunchtime and who may have seen something that could prove vital to our investigation.

"A young man has lost his life, and his family are obviously devastated.

"We urge anyone who knows anything to come forward and contact the investigation team."

A post-mortem examination will take place later to establish the cause of Mr Glaze's death.
