M62 motorway accident victim dies

A 52-year-old man has died in an accident which led to the closure of a stretch of the M62 in West Yorkshire.

The man was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he later died, West Yorkshire Police said.

The incident caused major disruption as the westbound carriageway was closed between Ainley Top and Rishworth Moor during Monday's evening rush hour.

Diversions were set up using the A643 through Huddersfield and A640 through Denshaw, causing 70-minute delays.

The motorway was reopened on Monday evening several hours after the accident.
