Police searching for missing teenager Ben Manning have found a body in a river in Wakefield.

The body of a man, who has not yet been formally identified, was recovered from the River Calder at Thornes Lane Wharfe earlier.

Police said Ben's family have been informed.

The 17-year-old, of Swillington, was last seen walking along Denby Dale Road at about 0130 GMT on 22 January.

He had been to watch a friend's band in The Black Flag on Smyth Street before he disappeared.

Police have since carried out "extensive" searches for the teenager with the force helicopter and search dogs involved.

His family and friends have also been searching Wakefield city centre and the surrounding areas, and handing out leaflets.
