Gun fired during armed shop raid in Bradford

Armed robbers fired a shotgun into the ceiling of a Bradford cash and carry and threatened staff before escaping with cash, police said.

Officers were called to Worldwide Cash and Carry in Great Horton Road at 1844 GMT on Saturday.

The two robbers escaped in a car driven by an accomplice.

In a separate incident, a 30-year-old man was arrested after a bullet was fired through the window of a house in Clayton Road at 0100 GMT on Saturday.

No-one was injured in either incident, police said.

The two armed robbery suspects, thought to be Asian males, are believed to have escaped in a maroon Toyota Hilux 4x4 driven by an accomplice.

The vehicle was later found burnt out near to Scholemore cemetery and the suspects are thought to have left in a different vehicle.

Det Insp Mark Long said: "Both incidents are not considered to be related and as with any firearm-related crime in Bradford they are being treated extremely seriously."
