Dead body lay by Bradford road for 'almost a year'

A decomposed body found in a tent near Bradford city centre could have been there for almost a year, police have confirmed.

The human remains were found by a member of the public at Hamm Strasse on Saturday.

The tent had lain undiscovered for so long as it had been camouflaged by foliage and was set back from the road, officers said.

It is believed to be the body of a rough sleeper.

A post-mortem examination has taken place and the death is not thought to be suspicious.

'Died last summer'

Det Insp Mark Long said: "Our initial investigations suggest that these are the remains of a rough sleeper, however, we are still working to confirm an identity.

"As the tent has been positioned away from the road and camouflaged by foliage, the remains are likely to have been there for some time.

"Having spoken with the pathologist, it is believed this could have been as far back as last summer.

"We need people's help to bring together the circumstances which have resulted in this discovery and to work out exactly who this person is.

"I would therefore ask that they cast their minds back to last summer and consider whether there is anything they can remember which could assist us further in our enquiries."
